What is an ASQ?
ASQ stands for Ages and Stages Questionnaires. The purpose of these questionnaires is to make you aware of typical development based on the age of your child (2 months to 60 months) and to see if they are meeting their developmental milestones. There are two main questionnaires of the ASQ, the first one is the ASQ-3 which focuses on your child's:
Fine Motor Skills- movement and coordination of smaller muscles, like hands and fingers
Gross Motor Skills- use and coordination of larger muscles, like arms and legs when they move and play
Cognitive Development- problem solving and understanding relationships
Communication- Language skills including what they can say and what they can understand
The second questionnaire is called ASQ-SE which focuses on your child's:
Social Emotional - behaviors, self-help skills and interactions with others
This is a tool to help you understand your child's development, anticipate what is coming next and celebrate your child's milestones.
