Play Groups

Playgroups

At Project Connect/ Family Center, we offer a variety of playgroup options for children and parents/grandparents/caregivers. Playgroups are held in 3 series (each series are approx. 11 weeks).  Registration is required for each playgroup with the exception of Drop-In Play. Playgroups are developmentally appropriate, literacy rich, and encourage parental connections. They are staffed by certified parent educators who are available to answer parenting questions and concerns. Below you will find a description of each playgroup.

Baby Play - birth thru 18 months (or strong walkers!) (no siblings)

Parenting an infant is both a joyous time and a time filled with questions. There are opportunities to talk about specific concerns (feeding, sleeping) as well as time to learn new songs/finger plays and share ideas.

Explorers- walking thru 5th birthday. Siblings welcome!

These playgroups are based on promoting children's developmental milestones including: social/emotional, language, cognitive and movement in a play setting. Activities include free play, reading, snack and circle time. Parents are encouraged to play, read, and clean up with their children Although child participation in any activity is voluntary, these are structured playgroups.

3's & 4's-On The Road to School (3 years to 5th birthday - no siblings)

This playgroup offers more structure and encourages the necessary skills for successful transition to preschool and kindergarten. Each series will focus on specific skills and activities are more challenging than found in toddler playgroups.  Snack is included.

Drop-In Play – Birth through 5th birthday

Drop-In play is an option for parents who are unable to commit to a playgroups series. This playgroup offers plenty of discovery time and blends many of the activities found in our other playgroups. Drop-In Play is held Friday mornings 9-11:30 a.m. and you are welcome to join at any time during those hours
